The Vermont Sun Triathlon Series
2000 is now Complete! The Vermont Sun Triathlon Series: Consists of 6 triathlons, and the Middlebury Duathlon. They begin with the Middlebury Duathlon in May and finish with the Vermont State Triathlon Championship in August (see list). Weve been putting on triathlon events since 1985. We take great pride in producing races that are professionally organized, safe, fun, fair, and affordable. You will not find any courses more beautiful than these! Youll really enjoy the mountains, lakes, and streams of Central Vermont. The Vermont Sun Triathlon Series and Road Races are truly designed for the recreational athlete. Each event has team divisions so participants can simply "team-up" and do one leg (i.e. swim/bike or run). This seasons beneficiary of race proceeds will be the Keewaydin Camps Foundation, which provides recreational summer activities for needy children. Thank you for your help! The events are sponsored by J.P. Carrara & Sons, McIntyre Fuels, Cliff Bar and VT Sun Fitness. _________________________________________________________________________ Note:

This event goes beyond sport and racing. Earth Journey is a fantastic real life human adventure through the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont. The Journey is a three-day "stage race" starting on the Friday after Labor Day and ending on the following Sunday. Day one: 5.5 mile swim & 95 mile bike Or: 13 mile canoe or kayak & 95 mile bike Day Two: 168 mile bike Day Three: 51 mile double marathon run Each day's adventure ends at Vermont Sun Sports & Fitness Center with MASSAGE, WHIRLPOOL, SAUNA, and BUFFET! There are many fine, reasonably priced motels within a mile or so of Vermont Sun Fitness Center (see Travel). Day One the athletes start with a choice: SWIM 5.5 miles, or PADDLE A CANOE OR KAYAK 13 miles, on sparkling Lake Dunmore. Once out of the water they complete a 95 mile BIKE ride that features two-mountain gap climbs and a sensational stretch through beaver ponds, waterfalls, streams and forests. Day Two is spent entirely on the 168 mile BIKE course and features four mountain climbs of 1800, 800, 1200, and 800 feet. The route passes through gorgeous Vermont countryside, filled with lakes hills, and meadows. It will make you understand why they call this The Green Mountain State! Day Three concludes with a 51 mile DOUBLE MARATHON RUN. 70% of the course is dirt and 60% is mostly flat, but the run climbs up to 1900 feet on the beautiful Ripton Ridge Road. The mountain course runs along a dirt road that is shaded with evergreen trees and is crisscrosses with crystal clear streams. Teams: May include 2 to 3 participants and one or two non-racing support persons, for a total of no more than four. Each one of the four race segments (1. Day One- Water, 2. Day One- Bike, 3. Day Two-Bike, 4. Day Three-Run) must be completed, in full, by one team member. Each team member may complete as many race segments as they wish. Support Crew: Each individual athlete must provide their own individual support crew which stays with them throughout the entire event. The support crews are made up of families and friends of each athlete. The ideal support crew is two. The event is as much for for the support crews as it is for the athletes; "teams" compete the journey together!
