Them sneaky Yankees was down in a holler, and come runnin' up at us.

We peppered 'em real good, we did, and some of 'em just gave up.


Them Yankees had some cavalry, and them was shore good-lookin horses.

They could ride real good, they could, but they couldn't shoot fer beans.

I shot the hat off one of 'em, and he done turned tail and skedaddled back across the field.
